For Visitors

Ramsgate is a fantastic place to visit, whether it be for a day out, a long weekend or a more extended stay.  We will be keeping you posted on this site with regard to the events and activities that Ramsgate Arts are putting on.

We hope that our main event, the summer festival, will soon become an annual fixture and, if you would like to become a friend of Ramsgate Arts, you will be among the first to know of all upcoming activities and the latest news.

What is there to do in Ramsgate?

There is a wealth of things to do and see in the town and in the local area and the links below will take you to just some of them.  You can get lots more information at www.visitthanet.co.uk and for news, views and things to do go to the Isle One website.

Places of Interest and things to do

The Grange, Ramsgate - the house built by and lived in by Augustus Welby Pugin until his death.

St Augustine's Church, Ramsgate - designed and built by Augustus Welby Pugin. Grade 1 listed.

Royal Harbour (the only one in the country) and Marina.  Designed by Smeaton and Rennie, the two big names in Georgian marine engineering, the outline of the harbour remains essentially unchanged from that of 1793.

Much of the heart of Ramsage is a conservation area, packed as it is with Georgian architecture.  Many of the most splendid examples, e.g. Liverpool Lawn, Spencer Square, Wellington Crescent, Prospect Terrace and many more can be seen on The Ramsgate Society's website.

Visit the beautiful Victorian Italianate Greenhouse in King George VI Memorial Park in Ramsgate.

Ramsgate's beautifully restored library, one of the many free libraries built at the behest of the millionaire benefactor Andrew Carnegie, is well-worth a visit.

Enjoying people-watching as you sip a drink at one of the many cafes and restaurants that overlook the harbour and marina is one of Ramsgate's most popular pleasures.  Cafe bars such as Miles, Enoteca, Rocca's and the splendidly quirky Belgian Cafe with their pavement chairs and tables are regular haunts of locals and the very many visitors that come to Ramsgate all year round.

Meltdowns - an exceptional fine art foundry.  Pay a visit or take a course.

Cycling and walking in and around Ramsgate are two popular and enjoyable activities - The Maritime Heritage Trail and the Viking Coastal Trail are both good sites for finding out about exploring the area on foot and on bike.
